Iceland International Johann Berg Gudmundsson Signing for Clarets
Burnley Football Club are about to make their first signing of the summer, after agreeing a fee with Charlton Athletic for Johann Berg Gudmundsson. The Clarets have offered £2.5m which could rise to £3.5m with add-ons, has been accepted by the Addicks.
The 25-year-old finished top of the Championship’s assists charts last season despite Charlton being relegated to League One. Iceland international was always likely to leave The Valley this summer, but he put talks about his future on hold until after Euro 2016.
He started every game in Iceland’s remarkable run to the European Championship quarter-finals, including the famous victory over England. He returned to Reykjavik with the rest of the squad earlier this week after they were knocked out by France on Sunday.
