Clarets Join Race For Belgian Defender

Clarets Chasing Belgian Defender Ilay Camara

The Clarets have joined Coventry City and Preston North End in the race to sign Belgian right back Ilay Camara, as all three clubs start to build up to a new campaign in the Sky Bet Championship.

Camara, spent last season in Belgium’s top division where he made thirty-one appearances for RWD Molenbeek, scoring three and assisting seven goals across all competitions. The versatile full back can also play higher up on the wing and his impressive performances have attracted interest from Reims, Coventry City and Preston North End.

Reims have an advantage neither of the three Sky Bet Championship sides can offer at the moment and that is top flight football. The French club finished mid-table last season, but flirted with the European spots and that may be enough to tempt Camara to France. But the Clarets may be able to attract the youngster with the prospect of an immediate return to the Premier League this season and whilst Coventry City and Preston North End may also be competing for the top six, as things stand Burnley are the side most likely to get over the line.
