Clarets Sign Arsenal Midfielder

Kamarni Ryan Joins Clarets After Leaving Arsenal

Burnley Football Club is pleased to confirm that Kamarni Ryan will join its U21’s ranks ahead of the 2024/25 season. The eighteen year old has signed a two-year professional contract with the Clarets, which will commence at the start of pre-season following his release from Premier League side Arsenal.

Ryan, who plays as an attacking midfielder, was with Chelsea up to U14’s level before moving across London to the Gunners, where he signed a two-year scholarship in 2022. There he worked under former England International Jack Wilshere, scoring three goals and providing two assists in twelve U18 Premier League appearances in 2023/24.

Ryan also featured in the third and fourth rounds of the FA Youth Cup and was named on the bench for Arsenal’s EFL Trophy tie at Exeter City in October 2023. The midfielder spent time on trial with Burnley towards the end of the season, featuring off the bench in Andy Farrell’s team’s 2-0 victory over Charlton Athletic at Turf Moor.

Speaking about joining the Clarets Kamarni Ryan said, “It’s great to be able to sign my first professional contract with Burnley. When I spent time on trial I was welcomed by the players and manager and got to play at Turf Moor, which was different because I’d never played at a stadium before but it was a good experience. I needed something new and a fresh start, I’m pleased to be continuing my journey here.”

Academy Manager David Longwell added, “Kamarni is an exciting talent who had several options, so the fact that he’s chosen to come here proves the strength of our development programme. He has really impressed us with his hunger to succeed and improve, and we’re delighted to welcome him to Burnley. His upbringing at Chelsea and Arsenal has given him a good grounding and having got to know him towards the end of the season, I’m confident he’ll bring positive qualities to the group and make an impact on the pitch.”
