Barnsley 1 v 0 Burnley (FA Cup 3rd Round)
My first sporting event of 2013, started with a dire game at Barnsley’s Oakwell stadium between Barnsley and Burnley in the 3rd Round of the FA Cup. It was a day of poor decisions all round, starting with referee Paul Tierney who dismissed Burnley’s Brian Stock after 39 minutes for a second yellow card.
The second poor decision of the day came from Burnley goalkeeper Brian Jensen who let a cross slip through his hands onto the Burnley crossbar, only to see it come back down to Barnsley’s Danny Rose who scored from 5 yards with only 5 minutes left in the game. This mistake cost Burnley the game and could see the end of Brian Jensen’s Burnley career as his contract expires in the summer.
