Skipton Ladies v Deighton Ladies

Skipton Ladies 3 v 0 Deighton Ladies (West Riding League)

Skipton Ladies entertained Deighton Ladies in the club’s biggest game of the season. Skipton went into this relegation battle knowing that a win would take them off the bottom of the West Riding Women’s league table.

Skipton started straight from the whistle and took the lead in the first minute following an excellent move that was well finished by Spence.  Skipton continued to control the game with some free flowing football and well timed tackles in what was their best display of the season.

Skipton’s second goal came half-way through the first half, when Alex Chew sent a long ball from the back over the two Deighton centre defenders.  The ball was collected by centre forward Green, who went around the goalkeeper before cutting the ball across the penalty area for Burnett to tap into an open goal to make it 2-0 to Skipton.

Louise Forster finished off the scoring five minutes before half time, following an excellent run down the left wing Forster unleashed a shot from the edge of the penalty area which went into the bottom left-hand corner of the goal to give Skipton a half-time 3-0 lead.

Skipton continued to control the second half and played some excellent football despite not adding to the score line.  The team showed great discipline as they defended from front to back in order to protect their three goal lead.

The new manager has clearly made a massive impact on the team, their passing, fitness, speed of play and shooting are 100% better than the performances before Christmas.  If the team continue to improve in this way then I am they will be fight at the top of the table next season.
