Skipton Town Girls v Farsley Celtic Girls

Skipton Town 0 v 8 Farsley Celtic (West Riding U14 Girls County Cup)

Skipton Town Girls gave an excellent battling display at home to Farsley Celtic in the Semi-Final of the West Riding (U14 Girls) County Cup, despite the 8-0 scoreline this was a much more solid performance from Town who lost 15-0 in the league meeting between the two sides.

Superb defending from team Captain Lucy Taylor, Shelby Lawson, Hope Kelly and Jess Ditchfield ensured Farsley were kept out in the early stages of the match, however Farsley did have two goals disallowed for off-side thanks to an excellent Skipton defensive line.

Eleanor Marshall put the Farsley defence under some excellent pressure with Ella McCamon suppling good passes through the well organised and strong Farsley Celtic defence.

The score could have been into double if it was not for an excellent performance by Skipton Town goalkeeper Lauren Halliday, she made at least four outstanding saves including a very brave drive at the feet of a Farsley attacker.

Kerys Hey and Beth Hindle both played well in the midfield supplying some good passes to McCamon and Marshall who were regularly outnumbered in attack.

Despite the girls disappointment this was an excellent effort from all of the squad and the girls can  be very proud of their performance against a very good Farsley Celtic team.
