Bradford City 1 v 0 Hull City (Youth Alliance Cup Northern Final)
After clinching the Youth Alliance (North East) Division Championship Title earlier in the week. Bradford City continued their excellent season by winning the Youth Alliance (Northern Section) Cup Final with a 1-0 win over Hull City Youth team at the Coral Windows Stadium.
Nathan Curtis captained the side, who progressed through to the national final were they will meet either Colchester United or Portsmouth, despite having a number of regular squad members missing due to injury, illness and first team call-ups.
Hull City started the game well and had a lot of the ball in the opening quarter of the game, the visitors passed the ball well but failed to make an impact in front on the City goal. Once Bradford were used to the new positions and team changes they looked comfortable on the ball and control the rest of the game.
Bradford took the lead on thirty-six minutes following a long ball over the top of the Hull City defence, Reece Webb-Foster out paced the Hull defence before lobbing the ball over the on rushing Hull City goalkeeper to give Bradford a 1-0 half-time lead.
Bradford should have extended their lead midway through the second half, when Webb-Foster was fouled in the area and the referee awarded a penalty. Unfortunately Nathan Curtis saw his spot kick well saved by the Hull City goalkeeper.
Following their victory in the Northern Section Final, City will now play the winners of the southern section, which will be either Colchester United or Portsmouth, in the National Final. The venue for the final will be decided once it is known who Bradford’s opponents will be in the National Final.
