Skipton Town Girls 2 v 1 Kirkburton Girls (West Riding League Shield)

Skipton Town Girls this week entertained Kirkburton Girls at Engine Shed Lane in the West Riding League Shield Semi-Final.

It was Skipton who started the game well with Ella McCamon creating some good chances early in the first half.  Both Beth Hindle and Amie Ackroyd come close in the first ten minutes, but some excellent saves from the Kirkburton keeper kept the score level.

Kirkburton were hitting Skipton on the break,  but some excellent work in defence from Kerys Hey, Hope Kelly, Ella McCamon and team captain Lucy Taylor kept Kirkburton out until the twenty minute mark when Kirkburton took the lead.

Good play from Amie Ackroyd and Jess Ditchfield saw Ella McCamon hit an excellent strike to bring the score’s level, on the stroke of half-time, this was McCamon’s 30th goal of the season.

The second half began well with excellent play from Skipton Girls who were now controlling the game from midfield.  Kerys Hey who played some fantastic passes all game, linked up well with Jess Ditchfield down the right flank.

Ella McCamon then linked well with Ditchfield to create an excellent opportunity, McCamon played a beautiful pass to Beth Hindle who struck a fantastic shot into the Kirkburton goal to give Skipton Town a 2-1 lead.

Skipton Town goalkeeper Lauren Halliday then made an outstanding save, bravely diving at the feet of the Kirkburton forward in the final minute of the game, to see Skipton Town through to the West Riding Girls League Shield Final.
