Billy Knott Arrives at Valley Parade from Sunderland
Bradford City have today confirmed the signing of midfielder Billy Knott from Sunderland on a two year contract, the former Chelsea Academy player made one appearance for Sunderland, but has also had loan spells at AFC Wimbledon, Woking, Wycombe Wanderers, and Port Vale.
Knott has represented England at under-16, under-17 and under-20 level, but it’s his impressive performances in the Port Vale midfield last season that have brought him to the attention of a number of clubs. The twenty-one year has been the engine room behind Vale’s ninth place finish in Skybet League One last season.
Bradford City manager Phil Parkinson said, “He is a young player with a lot of energy and a lot of potential and we are very much looking forward to working with him. He is a player who first came to my attention when he played against us while on loan with AFC Wimbledon during my first season at Bradford, he looked a talented player that day and we’ve followed his progress.
He went to Port Vale on loan last season and did really well for them, he is an enthusiastic player and one I think our supporters will enjoy watching, he has a lot of ambition and hunger which is what we need in the side, as we are looking to revamp the side a bit next season and get some younger legs in midfield.”
