Carl McHugh Joins Plymouth Argyle
Bradford City have today confirmed the Carl McHugh has left the Coral Windows Stadium to join Skybet League 2 side Plymouth Argyle, McHugh completed free transfer this afternoon to join the Pilgrims on a two-year deal.
McHugh who made 44 appearances for the Bantams in two seasons with the club is the fourth member of the famous ‘history-makers’ squad from the 2012/2013 season to leave the club this summer after Gary Jones, Garry Thompson and Nathan Doyle also departed.
Undoubtedly McHugh’s most famous outings in the colours of City came during the club’s tremendous run through to the 2013 Capital One Cup Final, where he started in each of City’s famous cup triumphs over Wigan Athletic, Arsenal and Aston Villa, playing a key role in each tie.
Having helped City finish the job off in the second leg on a mind-blowing night at Villa Park, McHugh was rewarded with a start in the Capital One Cup Final against Swansea City in front of over 80,000 at Wembley Stadium.
During his time at Bradford City, McHugh also earned his first under 21 caps for the Republic of Ireland and was awarded the Football League Young Player of Month for January 2013.
