Martin Patterson Signs for Orlando City
Former Burnley striker Martin Paterson (now with Huddersfield Town) has moved to the USA to join new Major League Soccer franchise Orlando City until 30 June 2015.
The Northern Ireland international is one of a number of players from the UK to join the Orlando City squad, which has been assembled by Head Coach Adrian Heath (former Burnley player manager).
The loan deal takes Paterson up to the end of his current two year contract at Huddersfield Town, he joined the Terriers as a free agent in the summer 2013 following his departure from Burnley.
During his two seasons at the Club, the 27 year-old has started 17 games and made a further 12 substitute appearances, scoring six goals. However, he has only played 10 minutes of competitive football under new Manager Chris Powell.
Speaking about the deal Huddersfield Town Manager Chris Powell said, “Martin is a senior player and wants to be playing regularly at this stage in his life, which is something I cannot offer him at this Club. As a result, this move is a good one for everyone involved.
Moving to Orlando is a great opportunity for Martin and his family, so on behalf of the club I’d like to wish him well. He’s a great lad.”
