Skipton Town Ladies 4 v 0 Battyeford Belles Ladies (West Riding League)
Skipton Town Ladies collected their second 4-0 victory against Battyeford Belles Ladies in the last seven days. The conditions at Engine Shed Lane would have seen most football league matches postponed, however despite the heavy rain and strong wind Skipton Town Ladies played some excellent football.
Skipton Town started the better of the two sides and controlled the game with some excellent passing and strong tackling from midfield, despite the difficult pitch conditions.
It was Skipton that broke the deadlock with an excellent finish from Louise Forster early in the first half. Leanne Farrell could have extended Skipton’s lead mid-way through the first half when she beat the Battyeford Belles defence only to see her shot go past the goalkeeper and stop before the line in the mud.
On thirty-six minutes, Farrell did manage to beat the Battyeford Belles keeper and extend Skipton’s lead, when the ball fell to her six yards out and from a tight angle she made no mistake and slotted the ball passed the goalkeeper to give Skipton a 2-0 half-time lead.
The second half started in much the same way as the first with Skipton Town keeping possession and playing some excellent football. Just five minutes after the restart Amy Green played an excellent through ball for Hannah Crosdale who cut inside the area to shoot just wide of the Battyeford goal.
Battyeford Belles had an excellent chance to pull a goal back on the hour when their centre forward got clear of the Skipton defence at the edge of the penalty area. But Skipton goalkeeper Georgia Midgley made an understanding save to keep the score at 2-0.
Skipton finished the game on top with Hayley Tarn adding two further goals in the final fifteen minutes of the second half, to give Skipton a 4-0 victory over Battyeford Belles Ladies twice in seven days.
