Matt Lowton Close to Turf Moor Move
Aston Villa defender Matt Lowton is on the verge of moving to the Championship after agreeing to join Burnley on a three-year contract.
Lowton has decided to step down a level like former team-mates Darren Bent and Andreas Weimann, who both recently joined Derby. Aston Villa have reportedly agreed a fee with Burnley of an initial £1 million which could rise to almost double that with adds-ons.
It is thought just personal terms are to be agreed before the 26-year-old completes his move to Turf Moor next week. Lowton heads to Lancashire as a replacement for Villa target Kieran Trippier, who opted to join Tottenham instead.
