Brian Jensen Signs For Mansfield Town
Mansfield Town Football Club of Sky Bet League Two have today confirmed that former Burnley goalkeeper Brian Jensen “The Beast” on a free transfer from Crawley Town.
Manager Adam Murray has bolstered his squad & backroom staff with the signing of Jensen the vastly experienced keeper has become the clubs new player/goalkeeping coach.
Nicknamed ‘The Beast’ because of his imposing stature, Jensen has played in all four divisions of the Football League during his distinguished career, but is best remembered for a glittering decade-long spell at Burnley.
He helped the Clarets win promotion to the Premier League in 2008/09 and racked up over 300 appearances – keeping clean-sheets against Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal, Everton and many others.
In total, the 6ft 1in shot-stopper, who also helped West Bromwich Albion reach the Premier League in 2001/02, has kept 132 clean-sheets from 423 appearances in English football.
Speaking exclusively about the move Brian Jensen said, “I had an opportunity to come here last year, but at the time it didn’t really suit Crawley Town.
There has been interest since and as soon as I heard the gaffer wanted to bring me here again, it was an easy decision for me. The Danish ‘keeper will be working closely with fellow shot-stopper Scott Shearer, who agreed terms on a deal at One Call Stadium earlier today.”
