As Alex Cisak leaves Turf Moor to join Leyton Orient, his possible replacement Chris Kirkland arrived at Gawthorpe training complex to join the club on trial. Kirkland arrives at Turf Moor following a short trial at Bury, having been released by Sheffield Wednesday last season.
The 34-year-old started his career at Coventry City, before a £6m move to Liverpool in 2001, but made only 57 appearances, with loan spells at West Brom and Wigan, before a permanent switch to Wigan in 2006.
Kirkland has also had loan stints at Leicester City and Doncaster Rovers, before joining Sheffield Wednesday in 2012, he has also represented his country winning one England cap against Greece in 2006.
