Midfielder David Jones Extends Contract
Burnley Football Club have today confirmed that midfielder David Jones has extended his contract by two years. Jones insists his motivation in signing a new deal is to help Burnley back to the Premier League.
The Clarets midfielder, who had one year remaining on his present deal penned a new two-year contract this afternoon, following in the footsteps of team mates Tom Heaton and Scott Arfield.
Jones has made eighty-seven appearances for the Clarets since joining from Wigan Athletic in 2013 and he is eager to get the next chapter of his Turf Moor career underway.
Speaking about extending his contract David jones said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Burnley, I think the club is moving forward and I’m looking forward to another big season for the club.
I feel in the last two seasons I have had a decent run in the side and as a player I want to be playing. We will have more competition for places this year, but hopefully I can be in the team and have another push to get the team back in the Premier League.
I’ve been here two years and the club is definitely moving forwards. The manager has put in place good foundations and you sense, with Scott and Tom signing new deals, that we all enjoy it here and want to move forward with the club.
They are two players who have played virtually every game in the last two seasons and their motivation will be the same as mine; to get back in the Premier League with Burnley.”
The Clarets begin their assault on the Championship at Leeds United in ten days time and after seeing his best mate Tom Heaton and wide man Scott Arfield commit their long-term futures, Jones feels the squad is motivated to repeat their heroics of two years ago.
