Sam Vokes Signs Contract Extension
Burnley Football Club have today confirmed that Sam Vokes has committed his future to club by a signing a new three-and-a-half year contract at Turf Moor. The forward who has netted five times this season, had 18 months remaining on his current deal.
Vokes contributed 20 goals in the last Championship promotion campaign, but missed the majority of the 2014/15 season after suffering a cruciate knee ligament injury in March’14 against Leicester City.
Vokes is now partnering Andre Gray in a Clarets front line that has fired in recent weeks, and he has his sights firmly set on an instant return to the top flight.
Speaking about signing a new contract Sam Vokes said, “It’s great news to sign a new deal, I’m really happy here and to commit my future is a great feeling. This is a club that I feel is going to get back where we were last season and being part of the last promotion, I feel the squad we have now has a real chance of that.
You see where the club is going with a new training ground that is being built and it’s fantastic to be part of the group. I really feel at home here now so for the next three and a half years it will be good to kick on.
When I moved here the first time around it felt like a great place to be and with the strides the club has made, they’ve showed what it’s about to be involved at Burnley. The fans, the club and the staff make this a great place to come to work.”
