Burnley Chasing Rudy Gestede
Burnley are weighing up a move for Rudy Gestede as part of a double raid on relegated Aston Villa, the Clarets are also keen on Gestede’s Villa teammate Ashley Westwood, who like the striker has four years left on his deal.
Gestede arrived at Villa Park a year ago from Burnley’s Lancashire rivals Blackburn Rovers, but could only manage five goals as the Villans finished bottom of the Premier League.
However, the Benin international’s 20 league goals the previous campaign suggest he could have a big part to play in Villa’s forthcoming Championship season.
The Villans paid £6 million for Gestede and could realistically expect to make back their money on the former Cardiff City man.
Burnley are yet to make any new signings since winning the Championship last season and find themselves a man down in midfield after already losing Joey Barton on a free transfer move to Rangers.
