Brighton Set to Sell Dale Stephens to Burnley
According to sources close to Brighton Hove Albion the club is very close to selling Dale Stephens to Burnley Football Club. Stephens is a long-term midfield target for Clarets boss Shaun Dyche as he prepares for life back in the Premier League.
Brighton have already rejected three bids from Burnley for Stephens, while Crystal Palace are also keen on the midfielder, but sources has said the deal is now close to being finally agreed. Burnley have made an improved offer and Brighton are now reluctantly ready to accept the bid to allow him to move to Turf Moor.
Stephens is regarded as one of the best midfielders outside the Premier League after impressing for Brighton over the last couple of seasons. The former Charlton star was almost an ever-present for Brighton last season in the Championship as they narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League.
Burnley are in the market for midfield reinforcements after seeing Joey Barton leave for Rangers this summer and they hope to wrap up a deal for Stephens in time for him to play in this weekend’s Premier League opener against Swansea City.
