Chris Long Loaned to Fleetwood Town
Burnley Football Club have today confirmed that striker Chris Long has joined Sky Bet League One side Fleetwood Town on a season long loan.
The 21-year-old joined the Clarets from boyhood club Everton a year ago and made 11 appearances in his first season at Turf Moor. Long’s only start to date came in the 2-2 draw with Cardiff City in South Wales last November.
England U20 international now links up with Uwe Rosler’s side at Highbury Stadium for the remainder of the 2016/17 season.
Speaking about the signing Fleetwood manager Uwe Rosler said, “We are delighted to sign Chris, he turned down many other options to join Fleetwood. He’s a player I’ve known for a long-time and I actually tried to sign when I was manager of Wigan.
Our Technical Director has been working on the deal for a number of months and I am delighted we have finally been able to bring him to the club. Chris fits our profile, he’s a versatile player who can play right across the front three and we are excited by the signing.
He has the quality and personality to fit into what we are trying to achieve here at Fleetwood Town. I’d like to thank Burnley Football Club and Sean Dyche for trusting us with one of his top talents.”
