Gerry Gow (1952 – 2016)
Burnley Football Club have this afternoon confirmed that former midfielder Gerry Gow has passed away at the age of sixty-four. Midfielder Gow came to Turf Moor from Rotherham United in August 1983 and made 10 appearances before being released in May 1984.
He was born in Glasgow in 1952 and joined Bristol City at the age of seventeen going on to play more than 450 games during his time at Ashton gate. In 1976 he was a key member of the Bristol City side which was promoted to the top flight.
In 1980 Gerry Gow was signed by John Bond for Manchester City and he helped City to the FA Cup Final of 1981 where they lost to Tottenham after an epic final and replay.
After a spell at Rotherham United, Gow was again signed by John Bond, who was now the Burnley manager. Gow spent the 1983-84 campaign his final season in league football at Turf Moor.
