Burnley Interested in Jordan Rhodes
Middlesbrough are ready to trigger an eight-club auction for striker Jordan Rhodes but want to recoup the £9million they paid for him. Burnley and Hull City are both keen on the 26-year-old goalscorer while Aston Villa, Sheffield Wednesday, Norwich City, Brighton, Derby and Celtic have also expressed interest.
Boro manager Aitor Karanka confirmed Rhodes can leave Middlesbrough saying. “Jordan a player in this squad but if he wants to leave, if we receive the right offer from a club that wants to buy him, and we are happy with the deal, then fine. But if he wants to stay here he’s part of the squad and I’m happy.”
Rhodes, who joined Boro from Blackburn last January after prolonged negotiations, had been prolific in his spells with Huddersfield and Blackburn scoring 176 goals and he still scored six goals in 18 appearances during Boro’s promotion campaign last season.
However, he has made just four Premier League appearances this season including three from the bench as Karanka prefers Alvaro Negredo.
