Former Claret Joins Port Vale

Port Vale Sign Andre Bikey

Former Clarets defender Andre Bikey has returned to the UK and signed for Sky Bet League One side Port Vale Football Club.  The former Cameroon international has been training with the club and has now put pen to paper on a contract until the end of the season.

The central defender joins Port Vale having spent the last twelve months in the Indian Premier League with FC Pune City.  Despite being with the club for most of this season, Bikey has never played for FC Pune following an injury to his tendon that ruled him out this season.

The defender has a vast amount of experience in England, including spells in the Premier League with Reading and Burnley.  He has also had spells in England with Bristol City, Middlesbrough and Charlton Athletic.  In total, Bikey has played in over 225 competitive games in England, scoring 13 goals.

He originally moved to England in 2007 on a loan spell with Reading after performing well at the African Cup of Nations. Promotion with Reading saw him play in the Premier League for the first time, a competition he played in 50 times during his career.  His last spell in England came back in the 2014/15 season with Charlton Athletic.

Bikey will be available for selection against Coventry City next week and the defender will hope to boost the defensive ranks at Vale Park and compete for a place in the Vale team.
