Alex Whitmore Joins Bury on Loan
Burnley Football Club have this afternoon confirmed that defender Alex Whitmore has joined League One side Bury on a loan until 1st January 2018. The Clarets’ centre-back moves to Gigg Lane for the chance to gain further first-team experience following a successful spell at Morecambe last season.
Whitmore, who arrived at Turf Moor as a scholar in 2012 made 43 appearances for the Shrimps last season including 35 starts in Sky Bet League Two. He has had previous loan spells with National Conference sides Gateshead and Chester City in 2015/16.
Speaking about the signing Bury manager Lee Clark said: “I am delighted to be able to get Alex in on loan before the start of the season. He is a real no-nonsense defender who has good experience of first-team football and can he will certainly bring competition for places that I am striving for.”
