Guiseley Cricket Club v Ilkley Cricket Club (Airedale & Wharfedale League)

Guiseley Cricket Club welcomed Ilkley Cricket Club to Nethermoor Park on Saturday as they looked for another victory in the Airedale & Wharfedale Senior Cricket League, Guiseley captain Stewart Smith won the toss and elected to bat.


Guiseley were not at their best with the bat this afternoon as they were all out for 131 in just over 40 overs.  Michael Truswell was caught by Alex Bailey of the bowling of Robert Wheeler with a top score of 26. There were also big scores for Heynrych Nel (25), Richard Nichols (22), and Lee Gordon (16).

Henry Wilson had the best bowling figures for Ilkley as he took 4 wickets for 35 runs, whilst Nick Cockroft took 3 Wickets for 34 runs and Robert Wheeler added 2 wickets for 21 runs.  The last wicket was that of Richard Nichols who was run out by Paul Dover.


Ilkley were excellent at the crease and went on to make 134 runs from just 26 overs with Max Gaskell top scoring on 34 not out. There were also big scores for Jibrael Malik (31), Ian Chaplin (21) and Rory Kroon (16).

There was only really one start bowler for Guiseley and that was Richard Nichols who took 5 of the 6 wickets for 64 runs, with Louis Barker taking the other wicket for 11 runs.


Next Saturday see’s Guiseley Cricket Club travel to take on Rawdon Cricket Club in the Airedale & Wharfedale Senior Cricket League 1st Division.
