Clarets Sign Birmingham Goalkeeper
Burnley Football Club have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Adam Legzdins from Birmingham City. Legzdins has signed a three year contract and will replace former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson who retired earlier this summer.
Robinson played back-up to No.1 keeper Tom Heaton last season and Clarets boss has been keen to replace former Leeds United, Tottenham and England goalkeeper. Dyche has lined up a deal for Legzdins to provide cover to Heaton and offer him the chance to move to the Premier League.
Legzdins started his career at Birmingham City before leaving St. Andrews to join Crewe Alexandra in 2008. Following spells at Burton Albion, Derby County & Leyton Orient he re-joined Birmingham City in 2015. Since his return to St Andrew’s he has made Twenty-one first-team appearances, including thirteen starts last season.
Birmingham City took up the option to extend Legzdins’s contract for a further year at the end of last season, but the arrival of David Stockdale has pushed him further down the pecking order in Harry Redknapp’s plans.
Legzdins could now go straight into the squad for the Premier League opener against Champions Chelsea this weekend.
