Burnley Sign Chris Woods for £15million
According to reports in a national newspaper, Burnley Football Club have finally agreed a deal with Leeds United to sign striker Chris Wood in a deal worth an initial £15m. The Clarets were determined to land Wood after boss Sean Dyche told their board that the New Zealand striker was his No 1 choice to replace Andre Gray.
Burnley returned to Wood after having an £11.8million offer for Deportivo La Coruna’s striker Florin Andone rejected and Dyche feels the Kiwi can score in the top flight.
Leeds United were keen to hang on to Chris Wood and offered him a three-year contract extension on his current £15,000-a-week deal in an attempt to persuade him to stay. But Wood was desperate to move to the Premier League once he knew of Burnley’s interest.
It is understood that Chris Wood will travel down to Burnley for his medical tomorrow from the North East hotel where Leeds stayed ahead of the clash with Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
