Clarets defender Join Accrington Stanley on Loan
Burnley Football Club have this morning confirmed that former Manchester United defender Jimmy Dunne has joined Accrington Stanley on loan until the end of the season. Dunne is yet to make an appearance for the Clarets first team but has been on loan at Vanarama National League side Barrow for the first part of this season.
Having made 21 appearances for the Bluebirds, scoring two goals he can play at full-back or in the heart of the defence. Dunne goes straight into the Accrington Stanley match-day squad for this weekends home game against Chesterfield in Sky Bet League Two.
Speaking about the signing Accrington manager John Coleman said, “He has had half a season at Barrow and has done well, he did well at that level and now he is making the step up but it won’t be a shock to him. He fits the profile of our club and he is the type of defender I want here, he is a solid defender, he is good in the air and we have been keeping an eye on him for a while.”
