Katie Rushworth Visits Leeds Gardening Event 

Leeds Kirkgate Market this weekend held its first ever gardening show, the event which ran for three days featured Leeds born gardener Katie Rushworth, who is well-known for appearing on ITV’s Love Your Garden alongside Alan Titchmarsh.

The event was designed to be a smaller version of Gardeners World Live which runs at Birmingham NEC, the idea was to bring a new event to the city for the garden loving people of Leeds.  The event had a number of stalls offering everything from garden furniture, tools, plants, seeds and services offered by the council.

Katie Rushworth, attended the second day of the event and started by assisting young children from St Peter’s Primary to plant some indoor plants and seeds. The initiative with St. Peter’s is part of a number of activities taking place in the market this year as part of a partnership with Child Friendly Leeds and local schools.

The day continued with Katie Rushworth giving a presentation about how to tend your garden throughout the year, whilst also giving a demonstration on creating the perfect garden tubs. Tong Garden Centre provided all the plants, seeds, soil & tubs for the event.

Katie, then completed a book signing of her book Plants, Beds and Borders before having some photographs with fans. The final day so fourteen stalls selling garden products and giving the public information that will assist them to bring their gardens alive and full of colour.
