Clarets Chasing Aston Villa’s James Chester
Burnley Football Club are among four Premier League clubs including Brighton Hove Albion interested in signing Aston Villa defender James Chester, the Wales international has played in the Premier League before with Hull City and West Bromwich Albion.
The 29-year-old impressed for Villa in the Championship last season and helped them get to the Play-Off Final. However after their 1-0 defeat to Fulham which meant they missed out on promotion, Villa may be forced to offload some key players to balance their books.
James Chester is one who could leave Villa Park this summer with Premier League clubs interest in him. Burnley are keen to bring him to Turf Moor, as manager Sean Dyche is a big fan of Chester and is looking to bolster his squad ahead of their upcoming top flight and Europa League campaigns.
Chester, started his career at Manchester United but never broke into the first-team at Old Trafford. He had loan spells at Peterborough United, Plymouth Argyle and Carlisle United before he was snapped up by Hull City in 2010 for around £300,000.
He helped the Tigers gain promotion in 2013 scored for them in the FA Cup Final in 2014 against Arsenal. Chester then moved to West Brom in 2015 for £8 million but spent just a season with the Baggies before moving to their Midlands rivals Aston Villa.
