Sean Dyche Interested in James Collins
Burnley are interested in signing West Ham United defender James Collins on a free transfer. Sean Dyche is looking at the Wales centre-back as cover for Ben Mee heading into pre-season. Mee is stalling on a new contract and with one year left on his current deal faces an uncertain future at Turf Moor.
Collins, 34, is seen as a short-term solution on a one-year deal after getting released from West Ham. He had an 11-year association with the Hammers but got told he was being released via email earlier this summer when it was clear he was not in the plans of new boss Manuel Pellegrini.
Collins who has now had time to process his departure from the London Stadium has since taken to social media to post an emotional message to the clubs supporters. Collins said, “Just back from a break with my amazing family, had a lot of time to think. I feel it’s now time to thank every member of staff and every player I have played with or worked with at West Ham United.
I had an amazing 11 years at the club and can honestly say I gave my all for the club and I loved every minute of it. Everybody knows of the special relationship I’ve always had with the fans and a special thank you has to go to you all, you’ve all been incredible to me and my family from the moment I stepped foot in the club and I thank every single one of you from the bottom of my heart.
It’s now time to move on to a new challenge, new adventure and a new club where I will continue to give my all everyday. Despite Burnley being ahead of the race for Collins, he has also been linked with a move to Middlesbrough and Cardiff City.
