Michael Jolley Chasing Koiki Loan Deal
Former Clarets U23 manager and now Grimsby Town boss Michael Jolley plans to speak to Burnley about the possibility of bringing defender Ali Koiki to the club for next season, the youngster played as a trialist for the Mariners during Saturday’s opening pre-season friendly against Cleethorpes Town which the Owls won 4-3.
Koiki is a player Jolley knows well, having previously worked with him while Under-23s coach at Turf Moor. The defender joined the Clarets back in 2016 after previously playing as a youth player for Crystal Palace. Koiki signed his first professional contract with the Clarets earlier this year, penning a one-year deal with the option of a further 12 months.
That means any move to the Mariners would almost certainly come in the shape of a loan deal, but having taken a look at Koiki in action, Jolley plans to discuss the defender’s future with his former employers. Speaking about the defender Michael Jolly said, “He’s been with us for a few days and it’s a chance for us to look at him and him to look at us,”
