Padiham Cricket Club v Settle Cricket Club (Ribblesdale Cricket League)
Settle Cricket Club arrived at the Arbories Memorial Sports Ground on a hot sunny day to face Padiham Cricket Club in the Ribblesdale Senior Cricket League. The visitors won the toss and elected to bat first in this 45 overs match.
William Davidson and Shakeel Richards opened the batting for Settle Cricket Club making an excellent start with Richards making 98 from 96 balls hitting fourteen four’s and one six, whilst Davidson made 42 off 26 balls before being caught by Siviwe Gidana.
Sadrian Ward was next to the crease and he joined Richards as they both punished the home sides bowlers, Ward went on to make 86 from 62 balls hitting six four’s and seven sixes, before being caught by Callum Clarke off the bowling of Toby Burrows.
Further runs were added by Robbie Davidson (30), Matthew Simpson (13), John Davidson (10), Thomas Strickland (9), Tom Davidson (5), Cullam Lockett (4) David Worthington and Josh Mullinder not out for six and four respectively, leaving Settle on 332 for 9 wickets.
Padiham’s best bowler was Jimmy Gray who took 4 wickets in 14 overs whilst conceding 89 runs. Toby Burrows took 2 wickets in 13 overs for 94 runs, whilst Tom Shirtcliffe took 1 wicket from 3 overs and the last two wickets came from fielding extras and therefore not allocated to a bowler for the wickets.
Padiham came into bat chasing 333 to win, however the visitors proved to be to strong for the home side who were very disappointing, only Siviwe Gidana was up to the fight and made 19 runs from 25 balls before being caught by Thomas Strickland.
The only other members of the Padiham side to score any runs were Kevin Hitchon (15), Toby Burrows (10), captain Owen Deakin-Pickard (6), Nathan Whitehead (4) and Callum Clarke (2), the other five batsman all made ducks as Padiham were bowled out for 68 runs.
Josh Mullinder was the pick of the bowlers for Settle taking 5 wickets for 23 runs from just 7 overs. Matthew Simpson took a further 3 weeks for just 21 runs in 11 overs, whilst Sadrian Ward and Callum Lockett took a further 1 wicket each.
