Clarets Chasing Wigan Midfielder Nick Powell
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has been interested in signing Nick Powell from Wigan Athletic since Stuart Armstrong departed for Southampton early in the summer transfer window. However once the transfer window closed, Wigan were unwilling to sell their player and were convinced they could get Powell signed to a new deal.
Over the past week or so it has become clear the player has rejected the terms offered by the club and he is looking for a move in the January transfer widow. The news has alerted both Premier League Burnley and Championship side West Bromwich Albion who are both interested in signing Nick Powell.
The Clarets, will be favourites for his signature being in the Premier League and with money available for transfers. However, Celtic can legally talk to Powell in January and if they can convince him his future lies in Glasgow, they could very well still land him.
The former Manchester United attacking midfielder has scored four goals and made four assists in twelve Sky Bet Championship games so far this season for Wigan Athletic.
