Tom Heaton Looking For January Move
Tom Heaton has admitted that he is keeping his options open in the January transfer window as he continues to struggle for playing time at Burnley. The Clarets keeper has been battling with Nick Pope for the No 1 spot since last season at Turf Moor, but there is even more competition now since the arrival of Joe Hart in the summer.
Heaton, insisted that it ‘doesn’t need a rocket scientist’ to figure out that it would be difficult to fit all three of the England goalkeepers in at the club. I found it tough after being snubbed by manager Sean Dyche for the opening game of the season against Southampton.
Speaking to the Mirror Newspaper the Clarets Captian said, “Joe was thrown in against Istanbul Basaksehir in the Europa League, the manager kept him in for the weekend for the first Premier League game of the season at Southampton, which was frustrating for me. I can’t lie I found that tough, obviously I know Joe well and have great respect for him, but to be perfectly honest I was expecting to play.”
While Heaton may be struggling for starting places at club level, his chances of starting for England have dwindled. Heaton added, “Come the January transfer window, I’ve got to keep my options open. The one thing I’ve been consistent about in my career is moving clubs to play games.”
