Euro 2020 Qualiying Draw

England Receive Two Chances to Reach Euro 2020

Having already guaranteed a play-off game to qualify for Euro 2020 by reaching the first UEFA European League Finals this summer. England today found out there opponents for the Euro 2020 qualifiers should they wish to qualify automatically for the competition and avoid the play-off match.

Finishing top of their UEFA Nations League group means that England, like neighbours Scotland, actually have two chances to qualify for the Euros. The top two from each group will qualify automatically but if the Three Lions do somehow fail in their group of five then they will go into a play off.

Germany’s failure in the newest international tournament, being relegated from a group including Netherlands and France, meant they dropped into the second seeds and they were once again paired with their fiercest rivals Netherlands. That group also includes Northern Ireland.

Wales face World Cup finalists Croatia whilst Scotland are joined by Belgium and Russia, the Republic of Ireland are up against Switzerland and Denmark, who beat them in last summer’s qualification for the World Cup.  Holders Portugal also topped their group in the Nations League and will face Ukraine, Serbia, Lithuania and Luxembourg as they try and defend their title.

England would love to continue their success from the FIFA World Cup by winning this summer’s UEFA European League Finals before looking forward to hopefully reaching the Euro 2020 Semi-Finals or Final which will be played at Wembley Stadium, football is truly coming home in 2020.
