Mike Phelan Makes Old Trafford Return
Former clarets midfielder Mike Phelan has returned to Manchester United as the clubs new assistant manager working under the new caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Phelan, who has revealed he will continue with his role as Sporting Director with the Central Coast Mariners whilst also being first-team coach at Manchester United. The former Manchester United player, coach and assistant manager under Sir Alex Ferguson said he has been in conversation with both clubs to ensure he could continue in his role with the Australian side.
Speaking about his appointment at Old Trafford Mike Phelan said, “Taking on the temporary coaching role at Manchester United is extremely exciting, It’s also a really positive step for the Mariners to have a direct link with Manchester United as I will continue my role as Sporting Director.
I’m still a Marinera, and I’ve put something in place that I want to see through. This might be a small distraction, but it’s with one of the biggest clubs in the world that I simply couldn’t turn down.”
