Fleetwood Town Sign Clarets Scholar Michael Fowler
Fleetwood Town have today confirmed the signing of Clarets striker Michael Fowler, who was released by Burnley last week despite a successful scholarship at Turf Moor. The Cod Army have secured the signing of the highly-rated centre forward on a two-and-a-half year contract. He will initially link up with the club’s Development Squad at Highbury and joins a number of former clarets at the club including Joey Barton (Manager), Steve Davis (Chief Scout), Dean Marney and Ross Wallace who are currently on the playing staff.
Fowler has spent time away from Burnley this season on loan at Padiham Football Club in the North West Counties League Premier Division and Radcliffe Borough Football Club in the Northern Premier League Division One West this season.
Speaking about the signing former Clarets midfielder and now Fleetwood Town manager Joey Barton said, “A lot of clubs in our division were interested in signing him, so we are really pleased that we’ve managed to get this deal over the line. “He’s an exciting young striker who loves to score goals and we are looking forward to watching his development continue here at Fleetwood Town Football Club.”
