Rowan Liburd Leaves Nethermoor to Join Hereford United
Guiseley AFC have today confirmed that striker Rowan Liburd has left Nethermoor Park to join Vanarama National League (North) side Hereford United. Having joined the Lions initially on loan in October 2017 he made the move a permanent later that year.
In his first season with the club he made 6 appearances, scoring 3 goals whilst on loan before signing a professional contract with the club in December, he then made a further 22 appearances, scoring 4 goals. As the club returned to semi pro status at the start of the season, the striker went on to make a further 26 appearances, scoring 12 goals which last week earned him his first international call up for St Kitts and Nevis.
Liburd, missed last weekends defeat away to Hereford United whilst on international duty with St Kitts and Nevis, he also missed the Lions 1-0 victory at Nethermoor Park on Tuesday against Curzon Ashton. However the striker will now be available to make his debut for his new club as they visit Spennymoor Town this weekend.
Speaking about the signing Hereford manager Marc Richards said, “I first noticed Rowan back at the start of December, playing for Guiseley in the FA Cup against Fleetwood Town he was their main threat and I couldn’t help but think that he’s exactly the type of player that I would like to bring to Edgar Street.
Liburd will offer us something that we haven’t already got at the club, he can be a big target man if needed but in all honesty he is much more than that. He’s quick, powerful and knows where the goal is so I’m really excited that we’ve managed to bring him in.
We’ve been searching for a frontline striker for a while now but right from the outset Tim and I said we didn’t want to bring in just anyone. We wanted someone who would come in and add something new to the squad. We also wanted someone who would fit in and have the right attitude, the right character and ideally a bit more experience. We were willing to be patient to get that even though we completely understand why supporters have been desperate for news of a signing like this.
Rowan is an intelligent lad and a really nice guy, and he’s also got the experience of playing at this level and above. He knows the game well and will be a great addition to the squad. I am really excited that we have managed to get this deal done and cannot wait for him to get started in a Bull’s shirt.”
