Sean Dyche Interested In Former Clarets Loanee
The Daily Mail have suggested that Burnley are among a number of clubs willing to offer Gary Cahill a Premier League lifeline. The Chelsea captain bid an emotional farewell to Stamford Bridge on Sunday after making a token substitute appearance and is available as a free agent.
The former Clarets loanee is determined to prove he can remain at the top flight, despite coach Maurizio Sarri shunning him for large parts of this season and has used his time on the sidelines to maintain his fitness.
Burnley manager Sean Dyche is not afraid to add experience to his squad particularly with strong characters such as Cahill. He signed Peter Crouch in January and could yet extend the 38-year-old’s stay by another year.
Dyche also knows plenty of clubs are looking at his England centre-back James Tarkowski while Ben Gibson has failed to have the desired impact following his transfer from Middlesbrough. Cahill, who turns 34 in December would need to take a pay cut at Turf Moor and will have other options for a Premier League return.
