Davidson’s Double Delight

Tom Davidson In Bank Holiday Sports Double

Tom Davidson started the new Ribblesdale League in fantastic form making an unbeaten 107 against Padiham Cricket Club, whilst assisting Husbands to his first century in the opening fixture at Marshfield.  This after an excellent season assisting Lancashire side Preston Grasshoppers to a seventh place finish in the Rugby Union National League 2.

However, whilst most of us had a relaxing bank holiday weekend, this local sportsman first of all flew 1,620 miles to make another international rugby appearance for Latvia against Denmark at the Baldones Stadium in the 2019 FIRA Championship. Latvia won the game 38-3 making it three games unbeaten, whilst Tom Davidson was also awarded Man of the Match for his performance.

Whilst in Latvia he was joined by his Settle Cricket Club and Preston Grasshoppers team mate, brother Will Davidson who made his Latvia International Rugby debut in the same game against Denmark. After flying another 1,620 miles back to the UK, Tom joined up with Settle Cricket Club on bank holiday monday to compete in his second sporting fixture in just three days.

It was made even more special as this second sporting fixture included two matches in the 2019 Ribblesdale League 20/20 Championships at Salesbury Cricket Club, which Settle went on to win after beating both Brinscall Cricket Club and Euxton Cricket Club to become the new Ribblesdale League 20/20 Champions.

The town of Settle and the local area should be proud of his efforts this week after flying 3,240 miles before playing an international rugby match and then two cricket matches in the space of just three days. This in an era when most overpaid professional sportsman complain about suffering from fatigue after playing just one sporting fixture in a week.
