Alex Whitmore Looking For Promotion By the Sea
AFC Fylde have today confirmed the signing of former Clarets defender Alex Whitmore following his departure from Grimsby Town at the end of last season. A product of the Burnley youth system he gained first-team experience out loan.

Whilst at Burnley he enjoy loans spells with Chester and gateshead in the Vanarama National League before further spells away from Turf Moor at Sky Bet League Two clubs Morecambe and Bury. A permanent switch to Sky Bet League Two side Chesterfield was next were he made 15 appearances, before joining Grimsby Town.
Whitmore made 35 appearances in all competitions last season for Grimsby Town, adding further experience to an already impressive Football League CV. Speaking about the move to AFC Fylde Alex Whitmore said, “Off the back of AFC Fylde’s last season, the intention will be to do one more this season and get promoted.
I’m somebody who tries their best to give everything they’ve got, I wear my heart on my sleeve and I pride myself on keeping the ball out of the back of the net. I take real pride in clean sheets and doing the horrible nitty-gritty side of things that don’t always get seen. sometimes doesn’t get seen.”
