Jonny Maxted Leaves Stanley to Join Exeter City
Accrington Stanley have today confirmed that former Guiseley goalkeeper Jonny Maxted will leave the club on Monday 1st July ahead of the 2019/20 Sky Bet League Two season. Maxted joined the club from Guiseley after playing against Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup first round replay between the two sides, a game in which he saved two of Stanley’s penalties during the shootout.

The Tadcaster-born goalkeeper began his senior career at Doncaster Rovers, and spent time with Hartlepool United and Forest Green Rovers before he permanently joined Guiseley in November 2016. Maxted played a total of 27 appearances for Stanley during his one-and-a-half-year spell with the club, during which time he kept six clean sheets.
Speaking about his move to Exeter City Jonny Maxted said, “I have some great memories from being at Accrington Stanley, I was excited about joining the club after the FA Cup performances and being here when the club won Sky Bet League Two was very special.
I want to thank the fans for their support during my time at Accrington and I will be keeping in touch with my Stanley teammates. The move to Exeter City has come at the right time as it’s a fresh start as I am searching for regular first team football. I hope I can cement my place in the Exeter City team.”
