Settle Cricket Club v Sri Lanka Professional XI (T20 International Friendly)

Settle Cricket Club professional Ashen Silva has worked with the club officals to arrange an outstanding international friendly match to raise revenue for the club and in aid of the Cancer Awareness charity. The match which took place at Marshfiled this weekend saw Settle Cricket Club face a Sri Lanka Professional XI lead by Ashen Silva.

Tom Davidson captained the home side and won the toss but elected to bowl first on a sunny evening at Marshfield. Ashen Silva came to the crease early after Simpson took an wicket for the home side, Silva went on to top score for the visitors with a half century as the visitors finished on one hundred and sixty-four all out.

Settle got off to an excellent start with the bat making fifty-two runs off the first five overs of the innings. however the Sri Lanka XI came back strong in the second five overs taking three wickets leaving Settle on seventy-three for three at the halfway point in the innings.

Settle continued to chase down the Sri Lanka XI total, however they could only add a further eighty-four runs in the final ten overs to leave the home side one hundred and fifty-seven for seven. The Sri Lanka Professional XI won the match by seven wickets before both sides went on to enjoy the evening in the club house with Sri Lankan food and live music.
