Burnley Chasing Chelsea Midfielder Danny Drinkwater On Loan
Burnley have made a late bid to sign Danny Drinkwater on loan from Chelsea before the transfer window closes on Thursday. Sean Dyche is keen to add depth and experience to his squad on the eve of the Premier League season.
Drinkwater has fallen considerably down the pecking order since his £30million move from Leicester to Chelsea in September 2017. The 29-year-old was an influential part of the Foxes side who defied the odds to win the Premier League in 2016 and was drafted into the England senior set-up as a result.
Chelsea are understood to be willing to move on Drinkwater though his status as a homegrown player is also valued to adhere with UEFA’s strict guidelines. Burnley have already brought in several faces this summer, with the £10m re-signing of striker Jay Rodriguez being the most costly. The Clarets have also welcomed Erik Pieters, Bailey Peacock-Farrell and Joel Senior on board.
