Peter Whittingham In Cardiff University Hospital
Former Burnley, Cardiff City, Aston Villa and Blackburn midfielder Peter Whittingham is in hospital with serious head injuries. The former England U21 International suffered the injuries after an “accidental” fall in a pub in Barry.

South Wales Police released a statement at 10.00pm on the 7th March 2020 saying ” A thirty-five year old man from Penarth suffered a head injury as a result of a fall and remains at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff. At this stage there is no evidence or suggestion of a criminal act and it appears the injury was caused by an accidental fall.
Whittingham, who started his career at Aston Villa where he played more than fifty league games and won 17 England Under-21 caps. He then had two loan spells with Burnley and Derby County before spending ten years at Cardiff City where he made four hundred and fifty-nine appearances, scoring ninety-eight goals before joining Blackburn Rovers where he finished his career.
In his ten years at Cardiff City the club reached the 2008 FA Cup Final, 2012 League Cup Final and promotion to the Premier League in 2013. Whittingham was a massive fans’ favourite at Cardiff City, scoring numerous spectacular long-range goals which helped earn him a place in the EFL’s team of the decade for 2005-2015.
