Clarets Make a Move For Brighton Midfielder Dale Stephens
Brighton Hove Albion Football Club have this afternoon confirmed they have received a bid from Premier League rivals Burnley Football Club to sign midfielder Dale Stephens. The midfielder who has one year left on his contract is expected to join the Clarets in the coming days, but the Seagulls have confirmed the deal is far from complete.
Stephens, who is an experienced midfielder was not in Brighton’s matchday squad this weekend at St. James Park, when his side took on Newcastle United in the Premier League. A well-placed source said this lunchtime that “nothing is concluded at this time.” However it would be no surprise if Sean Dyche landed a long-term target.
The Clarets boss tried to take Dale Stephens back to his native Lancashire soon after they were promoted in the summer of 2016 and has had six previous bids for the midfielder reject by Brighton Hove Albion during his time as Burnley manager.
