Harry Wilson Transfer Talks Collapse Over Asking Price

Clarets Not Prepared to Pay Extra £3M For Harry Wilson

Liverpool have rejected a £12million bid from the Clarets for Wales International striker Harry Wilson as talks over the transfer collapse. Burnley are said to be reluctant to meet the asking price of £15million for the 23-year-old after a deal seemed likely last week.

Liverpool sporting director Michael Edwards is insisting on a minimum £15m for Wilson and is not budging. Jurgen Klopp has given the green light for the attacking midfielder to leave on a permanent deal after three impressive spells out on loan. But he has still yet to finalise a move ahead and is running out of time ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline.

Tellingly, Wilson was named in the starting XI for Liverpool’s League Cup tie against Arsenal on Thursday evening that ended in an exit from the competition after the match ended goalless and was decided by penalties. The left footer was surprisingly involved while other exit-linked attackers Rhian Brewster and Xherdan Shaqiri did not make the matchday 18.

Wilson is keen to secure a move to another Premier League club and wants to join a side where he would be a regular starter. Burnley have stolen a march on multiple other interested clubs, including Leeds United, Southampton and Newcastle United.

Wilson, is regarded by many teams as a matchwinner and with the potential to develop into a real star. He scored seven goals in thirty-five appearances for Bournemouth last season as they were relegated after previous free-scoring spells at Derby County and Hull City. Wilson is contracted to Liverpool until 2023 after signing a five-year deal in the summer of 2018.
