Clarets Young defender completes move to Bristol Rovers
Burnley Football Club has agreed a compensation deal with Bristol Rovers to allow defender Ali Koiki to join the Sky Bet League One club on a professional contract.
Koiki, turned down a new contract offer from the Clarets during the summer to effectively end his stay at Turf Moor. The Clarets have secured a compensation fee for the left back due to his age and years of development through the Clarets’ Academy.
Koiki joined Burnley before the start of the 2016/17 season and signed a first professional contract 12 months later. A regular in the U23 side at Turf Moor, Koiki joined Swindon Town on loan in January, 2019 and stayed at the County Ground for the remainder of the season, making 15 appearances for the Sky Bet League Two side.
He now gets the chance to try and advance his career with Bristol Rovers as the Clarets see another young player benefit from their youth set-up to secure a contract in the professional game.
