Clarets Join Celtic In Pursuit of James McCarthy

Sean Dyche Set to Make Second Attempt to Sign McCarthy

Celtic Football Club are ready to offer James McCarthy a contract in January in the hope of persuading him to make the move to his beloved Parkhead. This despite the fact that there are a number of Premier League teams interested in signing the Eagles midfielder.

McCarthy, who is a Republic of Ireland International is also a lifelong Celtic supporter and the club who have a huge interest in securing his signature are hoping to bring McCarthy back to his hometown of Glasgow. Having not played in Scotland since leaving Hamilton Academical back in 2009 he could be temped back north of the border with a long term contract, but he would have to accept a large wage cut to join Celtic.

The midfielder not only has interest from Celtic but his current club Crystal Palace would like to extend his stay at Selhurst Park, whilst of clubs including Premier League Burnley and Aston Villa are also keen to add him to their squads for the second part of the 2020-21 season. As his contract is due to expire at the end of the season he could sign in January for a move next summer, but the hope will be that they can agree a deal with Crystal Palace for him to move before the summer.
